Volunteer Coordinator
We’re looking for a new addition to our passionate team of festival organizers to coordinate this year’s volunteers for Car Free Days 2024. Keep reading if you think you’d be a great fit!
Role & Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Develop and implement a strategic plan for volunteer recruitment and onboarding.
Provide leadership in identifying new opportunities for growth, program development and partnerships.
Build an effective team of volunteers through sourcing and recruitment through various techniques.
Collaborate with Festival Ops to set strategic priorities and provide monthly updates on organizational performances.
Build on existing relationships to leverage support for festival volunteers.
Collect relevant information on availability and skills in order to delegate and assign responsibilities effectively.
Arrange and/or facilitate appropriate training when necessary.
Serve as day-of-festival volunteer point-person (September 7 and 15, 2024).
Identify and communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are well-placed and effectively assigned for the festivals.
Foster an inclusive and positive organizational culture that values JEDI (justice, equality, diversity and inclusion),
Requirements & Skills
Proven experience in event or organizational operations or relevant experience (managing or coordinating projects and volunteers).
Experience in volunteering, particular with festivals or large-scale events.
Experience in recruiting through various channels.
Negotiating, influencing and problem-solving skills, especially on-the-fly.
Ability to cope with and adapt to limited resources, to seize opportunities and to think innovatively.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all types of people.
Strong organizational and team coordination abilities, including maintaining records and producing clear documentation.
Enthusiasm and commitment to work with a passionate and fun team in the non-profit and environmentalism sector.

Job Type
Part-Time: 5-10 hours per week
Remuneration: $25/hour
Schedule: you are responsible for your schedule, festival days are weekends
Reports to: Operations Manager
Workplace Expectation
This position will be entirely remote as we do not have a physical office and the pandemic remains a risk as well. Contractors must have their own internet connection, and a computer or laptop. Meetings and communication with the team are conducted via video chat, email, or other software. Resources needed: internet access, Google Drive.
